Considering that Bursa secured their survival on the final day of last season, they are aware that they need to work harder this term. In order to erase the bad memories of the previous campaign, the board appointed a famous coach as they came to an agreement with Paul Le Guen who has been in charge of the big clubs like PSG and Lyon before. The Frenchman will return to club management for the first time in almost a decade which could be a handicap. Last season, the defence was the worst part of the team. That is why Le Guen’s first action was to add some new defensive players during the summer transfer market. The departure of Tomas Sivok was filled by Titi who has been one of the most notable defensive performers in the Super Lig. Baris Yardimci is also a good option for the right-back slot but William Troost-Ekong didn't have the best time in Belgium last season so he needs time to find his best form. In the middle of the park, the club absolutely needs to bring in some real quality. In both the attacking and defensive sides of midfield , they were poor last season compared to most of their rivals. They could do with bringing in some more young players. None of existing attackers could manage to offer satisfactory performances last season. Deniz Yilmaz was internally banned following his poor displays but he was eventually forgiven. Furthermore, Tomáš Necid returned from his loan spell. They look OK numerically in the offensive zone but there is uncertainty about the overall quality. The performances during the pre-season friendlies proved that. It seems like they will have to add a new killer up front before the new season gets going. Once again, there is a heavy task on Pablo Batalla’s shoulders. If the board do not improve the quality in midfield and offence, Bursa may have another relegation battle on their hands.

Target

To finish in mid-table is a hopeful target but it is not easy with the current squad. Besides that, a good cup run will make the fans feel excited.
