It could be considered that Genclerbirligi are one of the comfortable teams ahead of the new season because the board decided to keep on working with coach Umit Ozat and the squad has not changed a lot. Of course, there have been some departures like Selcuk Sahin and Aydin Karabulut but it is obvious that Serdar Gurler’s move to city rivals Osmanlispor hurt the most, considering that he produced 17 goals & 6 assists last season. Genclerbirligi were solid at the back last season and it is expected that they will continue to defend well as a team. The new arrivals like Ousmane N’Diaye and Zeki Yavru are good options for them. On the left flank, Serdar Ozkan and Elvis Manu were added in order to fill Aydın Karabulut’s absence. The latter did not have a good year so he should be hungry to prove himself. In the midfield, Abdul Khalili will take an important role once again. There will plenty of competition to join him in the first eleven. Offensively, the team was poor last season with only one team scoring fewer goals than them in the entire league. In order to solve this problem, Petar Skuletic was drafted in but he generally didn't play much first team football last season. In order to use the tall striker well, the wingers must work hard to find him with effective crosses. Besides him, Vedat Muriqi and Tokelo Rantie hope to find enough time to play. In general, the capital city side are not expected to have any problems securing their survival. If they manage to record a few bonus victories, they can easily find themselves in a comfortable place.
