It took only one season for Sivasspor to return to the Super Lig as the title holders of the 1st division. The board say that last season was a big lesson for them so they will try to build a strong squad in order to stay away from the danger zone. Have they managed to do it so far? Absolutely not… Last season, they conceded the fewest goals in the entire 1st division. Of course, there will be a vast difference in the level of attackers they will come up against this term. Therefore the fans weren't happy when some of their best defenders were sold and not replaced suitably. Vitali Djakov and Elderson were not regulars in their former teams last season whilst Hakan Bilgic also came from a mediocre 1st division side. Neither Tolgahan Acar nor Ali Sasal are at the level of the Super Lig either so both keepers are far from reliable. After the club parted company with the experienced Theofanis Gekas, they added Arouna Kone who only played 105 minutes for Everton last season. Besides him, Muhammet Demir was signed in. Considering that he also had a disappointing campaign last time out, the attack is a big question mark for now. In the midfield, they managed to keep Leandrinho but Burhan Eser left the club. From a second division side, Mert Hakan arrived. He did not even play in the 1st division. The fans are certainly worried about the transfer policy so far. The board decided to keep on working with coach Samet Aybaba whose team managed to remain undefeated for nine fixtures after he came in. No doubt that he will face a very tough job this time around because his squad don't look ready for the top level right now.

Target

Survival will be paramount for the newly promoted side so they can disregard the cup.
