Football Season Guide

Last season, especially the second part of it, was a huge disappointment for Osmanli considering their squad level. Due to that, the fans expect to see a much better performance from the team this term. Since their squad structure was already pretty good, the board did not spend too much money during the summer transfer market. Last season, their attacking players failed to live up to expectations. In order to improve in that area, they added winger Serdar Gurler, who did a great job last season at city rivals Genclerbirligi. The German-born Ali Ozgun will take a big step into the top level from the 2nd division. He will try to be a good support player for squad rotation. Papa Ndiaye was expected to stay in the capital city but he was sold to Galatasaray. It means that Osmali's creative element was weakened a lot as they already saw Adam Maher return to his parent club after a loan spell. They need to strengthen in this area. In the backline, Numan Çürüksu and Václav Prochazka look a decent pairing in central defence but they do not have good replacements if either of them faces a ban or an injury. The left-back position looks satisfactory but there is only Avdija Vrsajevic at right-back. In goal, they look very secure as there is Zydrunas Karcemarskas and his back-up, Hakan Arikan. At this point, the fans are a little bit worried about the new coach Bulent Uygun. He has not been very successful in his coachig career so far. Besides that, the board failed to achieve an agreement with him in their first attempt because of a conflict about determining his assistants. After it was solved, a deal was eventually made. On paper, the capital city side have a good squad to finish the season in the upper part of mid-table. However, they are also capable of failing badly if they lose concentration and the players cannot get used to working with the new coach.
